Get to Bari by plane

The Bari Karol Wojtyla international airport is approximately 8km (5 miles) northwest from the town center. The airport is also known as Palese Macchie Airport after a nearby neighborhood. The airport facilities have recently been upgraded. From the airport you can get to the railway station by bus either using the dedicated Tempesta bus or by the city bus n°16. Note that the dedicated Tempesta bus takes you to the railway station with no stops in about 25 / 30 minutes and costs € 4.15. The service timetable is connected to the flights. The city bus n°16 takes you to the railway station in about 35 / 40 minutes and costs € 0.80. The city bus 16 service starts at 5 a.m. and stops at 11 p.m. The bus frequency is about one bus every 40/ 60 minutes. You may purchase them either at "tobacco shops" that display the big "T" shield outside, or at newsagents. Tickets must be validated upon boarding the bus by stamping them in one of the yellow machines on board.


Get to Bari by train


Bari has good daily connections with all the main Italian cities (Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples, Bologna, etc...) by the Trenitalia FS trains (note that long distance trains are called Eurostar, ES). Bari is also connected to the other Apulian cities by several regional trains (Ferrovie Sud-Est, Ferrotramviaria:Bari-Barletta, Ferrovie Appulo-Lucane). The central railway station, from which the Trenitalia FS trains depart, is located in Piazza A. Moro, terminus of many bus. The other regional trains depart from the smaller railway station also located in Piazza A. Moro(on the right of the central railway station).


Get to Bari by car


From South (Taranto):
A14 motorway, exit Bari Sud turn right and head to Foggia on the tangenziale SS 16 – exit no. 4 BARI – FIERA –PORTO.

From (North) Foggia:
Autostrada exit Bari Nord turn left on the tangenziale and head to BARI – FIERA exit no. 4 BARI – FIERA – PORTO.

From South (Brindisi – Lecce):
on the tangenziale SS 16 head to Foggia exit no. 4 BARI – FIERA- PORTO.


Get to Bari by ferry


The Bari ferry port is one of the most important harbours in the region, with services to Durres, Bar, Kotor, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Patras and Igoumenitsa. For enquires call +39 080 524 4488 or visit the port website (only in Italian, sorry).
